The dropping of HDNet from Rogers channel lineup has caused an outcry from loyal fans of the channel.
Comments from viewers started back when Rogers first announced this change was coming. Yet, for whatever reason, they still went ahead with the change. I assume the decision has something to do with money (HDNet along with a few other HD specialty channels normally seem to be part of high priced packages). However, this is not the first time HDNet has had problems being dropped by providers. In years past Bell TV, BellAliant TV, Time Warner, Cox and others have also dropped HDNet.
It's no secret that when it comes to nickel-and-diming customers and misleading ad campaigns Rogers is one of the worst in Canada.
There are some major issues with how telecommunications companies operate in this country, but that's a whole different issue! The important thing is that we have choices. Unlike electing a government, most of us aren't stuck with a TV provider and can switch to a new one any time. Although in this case, there aren't many left carrying HDNet.
Those still getting ripped off by Rogers, let this be a great opportunity for you to switch to one of the far better service providers. Currently in Newfoundland HDNet is still available on ShawDirect and Eastlink (in some areas). Alternatively, you can switch to one of the other providers not carrying HDNet.. at least you'll get the satisfaction of telling Rogers to hit the bricks!
