I was just staring at this monstrosity in the Avalon Mall today, and later found that a picture of it had gone viral.
The Happy Tree.
A long standing tradition at the Avalon Mall, they also use it as the basis of a gift fundraiser each year in conjunction with VOCM.
I don't know the full history, or how many trees there have been, but this is the third one in memory for me. When I was growing up the tree had a pink mouth and he looked much more friendly. I always used to wonder why its voice would switch between male and female.
This picture is great. I'm no expert, but if you're going to give a tree a face and make it talk you'd better make sure it looks decent. I don't know what to make of this one. It looks stoned!
